What’s a money maker deal? It’s a deal that you not only get the full purchase price back but over and above. It’s when something is a $1 but your coupon is $2. It’s when coupons made it free but you got gas points on top of it. It’s when coupons made it free but there was a $10 rebate….get the idea? Deals like this really exist and it’s a great feeling when a store pays you to take their product out of their store. This is more of an advanced Couponing skill but since we were talking about Walmart yesterday-I thought I’d wet your whistle on a few ideas.
Walmart is a store that gives you flat out “overridge”
That means if a product is $1 but your coupon is $2 they owe you $1. Their coupon policy states:
“If coupon value exceeds the price of the item, the excess may be given to the customer as cash or applied toward the basket purchase.”
Meaning, if your coupon is for more than what the product cost-moneymaker! Now be warned-9 out 10 Walmart cashiers will FREAK out and hold up your checkout if your bill is in the negative. I learned years ago that it’s easier to put extra items in the transaction to absorb the overridge. If you’re going to have $3 in overridge, how about a free gallon of milk? $6 in overridge? How about a free pack of meat! If you use more than $40 in coupons in a transaction the floor manager has to come turn their key on the transaction. So if you’re in a hurry…just sayin. The most overridge I got on a transaction was $250. The razor gift packs went on clearance and I had $10 coupons for them. I made $5 off each one and bought 50 of them…and waited for 15 minutes for management to approve it lol. But I took pity on them and let them give me a gift card for the overridge. Another time I had $4 coupons for KY Jelly (yea, go ahead and laugh, get it over with…need more time…?)
I had 100 of these coupons and there was no exclusions on it which is rare but hey-I’ll take it!
So with my case of KY Jelly I go to checkout. AND all the things my son needs for school…pants, underwear, socks, shoes, book bag. After coupons…$4. Pretty cool right? A little extreme? Yep. But it can be done. My girlfriend ordered 1000 pkgs of razors and walked out with $1000.00 on a gift card and the razors. All of it went to a men’s shelter in Cleveland. (Yes even the gift card).
That’s one way to “make” money on a deal. I’ll give you more ideas tomorrow.
